Daily prices swing with crude; the ranking is structural. The Gulf states (TX, LA, MS, OK) sit on the refining complex and tax lightly — they're perennially cheapest. The West Coast taxes heavily, mandates special blends, and imports refined product across mountains — CA/WA/OR/NV/HI hold the top five almost permanently. The seasonal rhythm rides on top: summer blends and driving demand add 20–50¢ nationally from spring to Labor Day, fading by November.
